Lauren Mays, DNP, CRNP, FNP-BCCo-chair, Scholarship committee; Advisory council member & Founding memberDr. Lauren C. Mays serves as an Associate Professor and the Co-Coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Specialty Track at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing. With over 17 years of clinical experience, she is a board-certified FNP specializing in family health, women’s health, labor and delivery, and pediatrics. Dr. Mays actively maintains a clinical practice as the Clinic Director at UAB’s WellHouse, where she provides primary care to victims of sex trafficking. Her expertise lies in trauma-informed care and understanding social determinants of health, concepts she seamlessly integrates into both her teaching and practice. As a respected academic, Dr. Mays has presented at national and international levels. She is also a published author and peer-reviewed journal reviewer, contributing her expertise to healthcare textbooks. Her commitment to excellence has been recognized through various awards, including the PADMA Award for clinical accomplishments and the Nancy Smith Memorial Excellence in Teaching award.
