Dr. Amelia (Amy) Malcom, DNP, Ph.D Candidate, FNP-BC, MSN, BSN

Dr. Malcom joined Georgia College & State University in August 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. She holds a DNP in Advanced Practice from Brenau University (2014), where her research focused on type 2 diabetes self-care management using telehealth. Currently, she is in her final year of Augusta University’s Ph.D. in Nursing program.

Dr. Malcom’s professional journey includes being a nationally board-certified family nurse practitioner since 2011, with a specialization in rural family practice. During her tenure at Brenau University, she served as the NP Programs Coordinator for 10 years.

Her clinical background as an RN primarily involved critical care, and she held a certification as a critical care RN. Since 2012, she has been actively engaged in higher education and is recognized as a National League for Nursing Certified Nurse Educator.

Dr. Malcom’s commitment extends beyond academia. In addition to her Co-Chair role  at NAFNP, she is an active member of several professional organizations, including AANP, UAPRN of Ga, AHNA, STTI, and Phi Kappa Phi. In 2017, she received the prestigious “Master in the Art of Nursing” award from the Gainesville Community in recognition of her 30 years of nursing service.

Her research interests encompass compassion care, telehealth, and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, Dr. Malcom enjoys leading students on mission trips to the Romani villages in Romania.
